Medicine Hunter Chris Kilham discusses herbal superstars with Dr. Oz.

On the Dr. Oz program, "Natural Cures", Chris Kilham demonstrated what makes him the "Medicine Hunter".

GREEN BAY, WI, March 31, 2010 /Wisconsin PR News/ -- Medicine Hunter Chris Kilham appeared with Dr. Oz and described the benefits of herbs from around the world that may be as close as your own health food store. For instance, Cat's Claw extract from Peru, is easy to find (and much easier to take) as Saventaro max-strength cat's claw in capsule form. This unique extract enhances natural immunity and modifies the acquired immune system.† However, as Chris and Dr. Oz demonstrated, in a liquid form it is an acquired taste at best. That's just one reason why a supplemental form is the preferred route for most.

Chris Kilham is the best guide around for this kind of discussion. He is a medicine hunter, author, and educator, and founder of Medicine Hunter Inc. CNN calls him "The Indiana Jones of natural medicine." Chris's research on medicinal plants has taken him all over the world. He is Explorer in Residence in the department of Plant & Soil Sciences at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and teaches Ethnobotany. He is the author of fourteen books, writes articles on plant medicines, and lectures extensively on holistic health and botanicals. Just as Chris is the right person for the topic, Saventaro is a perfect example of the right kind of cat's claw extract - in more ways than one. It's the first and only cat's claw product made from the root of the Uncaria tomentosa plant, where beneficial POAs (pentacyclic oxendole alkyloids) are 200% more concentrated than in the bark. But, because the root is harvested, we make sure that only one-third of the plant's cultivated sections are collected at any one time, ensuring a sustainable harvest.

Just as important, in recognition of the expertise we rely on, a portion of the profits of Saventaro sales goes back to the local Ashaninka community for health care and education.

Another of the herbs discussed in the program, Tongkat Ali, is also available in supplemental form in the Hot Plants for Him sexual enhancement formula. As discussed in the segment, this slender shrub-like tree native to the steamy jungle slopes of Malaysia, has a history of use that has recently caught the attention of Western science and modern researchers. Tongkat Ali appears to support healthy male sexual drive possibly through adaptogenic properties, like those found in ginseng and rhodiola.†

Exploring the world of herbal ingredients with a plane ticket and a passport is certainly exciting, but some of these botanicals are as close as your favorite health food store. To learn more, go to www.enzymatictherapy.com and www.medicinehunter.com.
