Known as Sparkle , a university tested cross linked polyacrylamide, acts as the visual indicator of SWT , swelling up into diamond-like crystals that sparkle in the sunlight when watered. When consumers see Sparkle on their lawn, it signals that enough water has been applied, preventing costly and wasteful overwatering. Sparkle then releases the water it absorbed at a consistent rate ensuring optimal moisture is present to maximize seed germination and plant establishment. When the consumer can no longer see Sparkle present, it is time to water again. Tested on a multi-platform basis by accredited researchers at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, SWT accurately indicates the presence of adequate surface moisture for optimum seed germination and establishment, and accurately indicates when additional moisture is required. Additionally, the study discovered that Sparkle not only reacts to air conditions, but also to which type of soil it is placed on, making SWT a valuable and economic resource for any consumer, regardless of their location.
