Wisconsin Law Journal Honors Attorney Tracey A. Wood With Women In The Award
Attorney Tracey A. Wood was one of 21 women honored by the Wisconsin Law Journal at the first ever awards ceremony held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on February 13, 2009.
MILWAUKEE, WI, February 28, 2009 /Wisconsin PR News/ -- Wisconsin native and attorney, Tracey A. Wood was honored at the Women In The Law ceremony held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by The Wisconsin Law Journal. She was one of only 21 attorneys to receive the award in Wisconsin.
Tracey Wood is a shareholder at Van Wagner & Wood, S.C., a Madison based criminal and drunk driving defense law firm.
With published wins from both Wisconsin and federal courts, Attorney Wood's trial record is notably impressive - there was her post-conviction win that freed a woman from a 10-year prison sentence, the acquittal in the largest military conspiracy and theft case ever charged and tried in Wisconsin, the successful litigation of United States v. Andrez Perez (50 F. 3d. 396, 7th cir (1995)), and appellate victories that reversed convictions for a refusal, a 4th offense OWI, as well as numerous drunk driving dismissals and acquittals.
As the president to the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Wisconsin's first ever attorney appointed to the National College for DUI Defense Board of Regents, the author of Challenging Prior Under Influence Convictions, and contributing author to DUI Defense, Tracey Wood is regarded as an authority on drunk driving laws and defense. As such, she is currently authoring, "Wisconsin DUI Defense - The Law and Practice" a treatise on Wisconsin drunk driving law.
Tracey has appeared as a guest speaker at criminal defense seminars across the United States - there was the presentation regarding the mystery and error of sobriety tests to NACDL members, the presentation to the Alabama Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the many presentations delivered at the Harvard Law School for the NCCD symposiums to teach lawyers across the United States how to present effective openings and closings, how to cross examine the state's criminal test expert, and how to do an effective direct examination of the defense expert.
Attorney Tracey Wood has been repeatedly distinguished by Law & Politics as one of the top 5% of all attorneys in Wisconsin with the Wisconsin Super Lawyers award, and this year with the award for Top 25 Women in Wisconsin. Dane County lawyers have repeatedly named her one of Madison's Best Criminal & DUI Defense lawyers. She is also the past president of the Dane County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
Attorney Tracey A. Wood earned her undergraduate degree at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and her law degree at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Wisconsin. She is admitted to the Wisconsin State Bar, for which she has continuously remained an attorney in good standing, the American Bar Association, the U.S. District Court of Wisconsin for both the Eastern District and the Western District, and is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
