Help Dr. Phil Spread Cheer At Christmas And All Year

Dr. Phil threw a party to create smiles for special children. You can create some smiles too.

/Wisconsin PR News/ - HARSHAW, WI, December 16, 2006 - Last Christmas, Dr. Phil threw a Christmas party for some special children who needed extra joy. "We just want to see them smile," his wife Robin said.

A disabled grandma in Wisconsin feels that way too. She encourages volunteers around the country to help make sure hundreds of sick children across the country can smile on Christmas morning.

Dr. Phil's special surprise was for children with parents in Iraq. His intention was "to help take their minds of their sadness for a little while."

Marsha Jordan, founder of the Hugs and Hope Foundation for Critically Ill Children has that same goal for kids facing life-threatening illnesses like cancer. Through the foundation's "happy mail" program and heir "Elf Project," hundreds of Christmas cards and gifts are delivered to children from needy families who are facing serious health issues. You can help by sending a cheery Christmas card to a child who has little to smile about. It's easy! Just visit the Hugs and Hope web site at www.hugsandhope.org Read about some of the children who are featured and choose one you'd like to cheer up. Send a card or a small gift to a sick child or two. You'll make their day and create some smiles. You can continue sending cheery mail throughout the year, and it's a great family project that teaches children compassion.

The HUGS and HOPE Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity devoted to providing smiles for seriously ill children who often have little to smile about. YOU can help make a difference for these children; and one of the smiles you create just could be your own! www.hugsandhope.org
