According to Buske, virtual staffing is a relatively new concept whereby highly-skilled and thoroughly tested "work-from home" office professionals are matched one-on-one with small and home-based businesses. All interaction is conducted via the Internet, by email, phone, fax, or through "instant messenger" software programs. Even the work that an assistant (also known as a "Virtual Assistant"—or VA for short) does for a client is performed and returned to the client using state-of-the-art technologies.
"Time spent on client projects is billed by the minute, with a two-hour per week minimum," said Buske. She added that each day, clients receive an email containing a detailed report of how their Virtual Assistants spent time on specific activities and projects.
